Good to know
Frequently asked questions
What age is Two in the Tent suitable for?
We say 8 to 16, but treat that as a rough guide. Our own son walked the Camino to Santiago when he was six. What really matters is that your child likes being outside and is up for an adventure.
How far do we walk each day?
Between 8 and 20 kilometres a day over four days, about 56 km in total. We keep an easy pace with plenty of breaks to poke around beaches, look for crabs and take in the view.
I'm worried the backpack will be too heavy.
Everyone carries their own gear, but we help you pack light and split the load sensibly between parent and child. Kids carry a pack that suits their size. You get a detailed packing list before you leave.
Do we really sleep in tents every night?
Yes, and honestly the camping is half the fun. We stay at campsites close to the sea, each pair has their own tent (we provide it), and the last one in Porto Covo even has a pool.
Do I need hiking experience?
No. If you like being outdoors and walking, you can do this. The trail is moderate and we walk as a small group, so you're never on your own.
Is it safe?
Experienced guides walk with the group and first aid is always close by. We've walked the route ourselves and prepared everything carefully.
What should I bring?
Good walking shoes, clothes you can layer, rainwear, a towel and your personal bits. You can rent a backpack and sleeping bag from us if you'd rather not bring your own. You'll get a full packing list once you've booked.
Do you cater for one father or one mother with a child?
Of course. Fathers with a child, mothers with a child. The point is one parent and one child, whatever your family looks like.
